Types of construction
The IEC 34-7 publication and the CEI 2.24 standard establish the types of construction and the mounting arrangements provided for the rotating electrical machines, according to type of coupling used.
The CEI 2.4 standards assign an alpha-numeric code to each different type of construction, the letter B means that the machine shaft is placed in horizontal position, while the letter V means that the shaft is placed in vertical position, the numeric part of the code indicates if there are any feet and their positions or if there are any flanges.
The IEC 34-7 publication specifies 2 codes for each different type of construction: a simplified code and a complete one.
In the continuation the main types of construction used for the asynchronous three-phase motors and the relevant identification codes are described.
